The doctors at Animal Medical Clinic have many years of experience performing a variety of surgical procedures; from routine spay/neuter procedures to more complex soft-tissue surgeries.

Animal Medical Clinic offers a number of soft-tissue procedures for our patients, including:

  • Caesarian section
  • Pyometra
  • Extensive and simple mass removal(s)
  • Cystotomy
  • Perineal urethrostomy
  • Eye enucleation
  • Laparotomy
  • Gastrotomy
  • Intestinal anastamosis

Before surgery, all patients undergo a thorough physical exam so that we can design an anesthesia protocol specifically for each pet. During every surgical procedure, our staff of highly-trained, dedicated technicians closely monitors your pet. We feel strongly about providing the highest standard of medical and surgical care. This includes consistent IV catheter placement and laboratory work prior to all surgical procedures, advanced anesthetic monitoring of your pet by our trained staff and individualized pain management medication for your pet. We understand that surgery can be a stressful situation for both you and your pet, which is why your pet's safety and comfort during surgery are our primary concerns.  For these reasons, we strive to make each surgical procedure as stress-free and safe as possible.

We address pain control in all our surgical patients. Pain level is gauged for each procedure and the appropriate pain control is used to keep your pet comfortable while he or she recuperates. We often use long-acting local anesthetics to completely eliminate any discomfort immediately after surgery.  The less pain your pet experiences, the faster his or her recovery time.

We help your pet safely recover from surgery with comprehensive pain management, careful nursing care by our trained staff, special diets, and most importantly, gentle individualized attention and encouragement.  At discharge, we will send additional pain management medication home with you and your pet and a technician will help answer any questions you may have.  We follow-up all of our surgeries with a phone call to make sure you and your pet are doing well.

Complex orthopedic procedures are performed in house by Dr. Dale Smith of Veterinary Orthopedic Services.
